The clock has become the tyrant. The clock tells me that time is running out. Time is running out. All that we love and cherish is fading away. Just as the seasons come and go and the different plants rise and fall, so me. All is temporary. This truth is a comfort to those who are suffering. This truth is a terror to those who are faithless. This truth is the hope of those who believe. The hope is this, that death is merely the doorway into the true reality. The reality of the present is broken. But through the doorway of death I will enter into what is true. So much of life is spend in waiting. Whether it is in a grocery store or at the dentist’s office, or when waiting on a major life change, most of the time is spent in waiting. The hours go by and time marches on. I think it’s easy to forget that ultimately we are waiting upon death. Most of us spend our time rushing around on what we think is most important.
