The club had a very successful day yesterday at the Munster XC a in Tipperary. Two Munster champions and twice as many juvenile athletes qualified for the All Irelands as last year. First up was the U10 girls and Ella Jenks and Abby Moloney had a tough race in windy conditions but ran well. The U10 boys team was up against it with a large entry but they held them selves up well. Conor Frawley just missed out on the top 12 but got silver with the Cork county team that came 2nd. Roman Hogan ran very determined to break into the top 25 with Cody Kok not far behind. Daire Ryan, Eoin Walsh and Michael Rea finished strongly and will be happy with their progress. Aniela Hogan ran a superb race to finish 9th securing a place in the All Irelands. She also scored on the county team that took Gold. Sophie Perrott ran her usual gutsy race to finish well. In the boys U12 John OFlynn ran a fantastic race and battled well to win in superb fashion. He also took silver with Cork. Mark Riordan paced himself well to come just outside the top 50. Ursula Bluett continues to dominate the munster distance category and put in a fine performance to win comfortably. Grainne Egan continues to impress race after race and put in an inspirational run to come 3rd. the two girls also collected Gold for Cork. Ruairi Manning and Michael OFlynn did very well in the Boys under 14 with Ruairi picking up a silver medal with Cork and the two boys also made the Cork team for the All Irelands. Jack ONiell and Rory Lenihan continue to improve and both finished strongly. The club team came 5th overall. In the girls U16 Sarah Corbett finished just outside the top 12 but with a fine run and a strong finish she got silver with Cork. Eimear Lenihan also improves nicely after a period of injury and placed 22nd to get silver for Cork and qualify for the nationals. Damien Madigan continues to impress with every race and his fantastic 8th place ensured qualification to the All Irelands and he also picked up gold for Cork as well. Keith Falvey had a tough race but finished well and will look to the u15s in two weeks time. Caitlin Lenihan was running out of age but still finished well and will look forward to the Uneven age Munsters in 2 weeks where sheshould do well. Luke Devine was up against a hugely experienced field of athletes and even though he too was out of age he paced himself well to finish strong and got silver with Cork for his efforts. In the Mens Novice race Diarmuid OSullivan, Nigel Oneill and Sean Manning put in good quality performances in a large field of runners and will be happy with their progress. Well done to all who competed and we have 2 weeks till the Uneven Age Munsters in Newmarket On Fergus where the club no doubt will perform admirably once again!
