The coal ash comment by Duke energy is good news for renewable energy. It means some of the external costs that coal fired power plants have not passed on the users and have not taken out of shareholder profits will be accounted for. Comparing all costs of solar and wind to only the internal costs for coal power has been an unfair comparison and using that as an excuse to not build more renewable powerplants has not been a just comparison. This helps to equalize it. And as for Rand Paul, it just confirms my sewage theory of politics: all the big chunks rise to the top. Is this the best the R can muster? Scary!
