The collaboration of Germany with Russia could be the main reason for United States destructive foreign policy against Russia. The political campaign against the Russian state forcing Angela Merkel to sanction Russia resembles more like a preempt move from US to undermine Germanys close relations with Russia. It makes perfect sense for the constant NSA surveillance of Merkels cellular telephone. The grand strategy is to drive a wedge between the two head of states (Merkel and Putin) to dismantle any plans they may have to abandon the dollar as the universal trade currency. If Russia demanded Europeans nations to pay for the gas with rubies, such move would drive the dollar into a tailspin, causing a new wave of bank defaults on loans and letter of credits will not be honored. Inversely, the rubles will shot up in value as its demand will increase. The US sanctions against Russia will eventually backfire and cause the dollar to lose its value in the global market.
