The collapse of the Cardinals: Not only are his numbers way down,but,David Freese has killed numerous rallies with a startling amount of double plays.Pete Kozma,and now,Daniel Descalso,are not hitting.Matt Carpenter and Allen Craig have tailed off considerably.Beltran is flat,and,while Jon Jay had three hits Friday night,and plays a good centerfield,traditionally,the Cardinals look to his position for much bigger production.The team is flat,and uninspiring.I am surprised that Oscar Taveras is not up here.Adam Wainwright has had three unsuccessful outings in a row.Thankfully,the Shelby Miller injury was not serious.A huge amount of pressure has been placed on Carlos Martinez and Michael Wacha,and the shuttle to Memphis has to be distracting.Then,there is Jake Westbrook,who has more walks than strikeouts.That is very unusual for a starter.Bernie Miklasz pointed out that his swing and miss ratio is one of the lowest in the league. I resent Matheny for his blind loyalty to a veteran,and he will probably keep trotting Westbrook out there.Westbrook is making an astonishing 9.75 million this year.Mozeliak,would you like a "wubber" ducky with that bath you are taking on that salary?
