The colorful trees had a good run this year. The picture is from about a week ago. This week we had temperatures down into the teens a couple of nights and most of the remaining leaves fell quickly. Down at the local part of the statewide arboretum the northern red oaks and scarlet oaks are still holding on. Their leaves are becoming a darker shade of red. The colorful trees in south central Colorado had a good run this year too. The yellow and orange aspens were on the north side of US-24 about a mile east of Wilkerson Pass in mid October.
