The coming mid-terms are likely, at the least, to be a solid and widespread rejection of Obama and everything the Democrats have “achieved” since 2008. There’s also a very strong chance that they might be an absolute rout for the Democrats. The GOP is very likely to retake the Senate – the only question being by how much they do so. Their grip on the House is also pretty much assured to increase. This is going to then make 2015 and 2016 two very grinding, depressing, crushing, humiliating, and relentlessly bitter years for Obama. The Republicans are going to ensure this. Doing so will pave their way to retaking the White House and gaining inarguable control over both houses of Congress as well. The Democrats did the EXACT same thing to Bush in 2006 so this is nothing new, politically. What is new here is that Obama doesn’t have anything good to fall back upon. Bush did. By late 2007 and throughout 2008, Bush’s “Surge” in Iraq produced spectacular results that largely turned around the debacle his policies under Rumsfeld had “achieved.” Thus, foreign policy wise, Bush left on an up note. Obama only has desperately increasing failure to call his own in the foreign policy realm. Hence the coming years of bitterness for Obama. It’s going to be an ugly spectacle that will only get worse for him and for the Democrats. Obama will be increasingly rendered impotent by Republican control of the Legislative Branch. And our nation’s enemies will, increasingly, act on their perception of Obama’s being a weak and incompetent force in international politics. Combined, this will spur Obama to ever more desperate and ill considered moves which will only make things worse for him. A nasty and downward spiraling cycle is the only thing I see coming from this. Come 2016, Americans will turn to the polls with a sense of relief at finally escaping Obama’s rule. Yes, stranger things in politics have happened but the coming presidential election is truly an almost foregone conclusion for the Republicans.
