The commissioning of several projects in Ilaje and Ese-Odo local government areas of Ondo state recently by Governor Olusegun Mimiko confounded many of his critics and their hangers-on who are fond of saying he hasnt done anything in the area. But the truth about the Great Iroko is that hes not a governor that make so much noise about his achievements with the commissioning of every tenuous project,when in actual fact there are so many laudable projects yearning for such commissioning. Mimiko hasnt commissioned up to 2/3 of his completed projects.He doesnt commission tokenism like some other governors. Rauf Aregbesola in Osun for instance, commissioned the decoration of an existing roundabout at ile-ife with ori-Olokun even though he hasnt constructed a single roundabout in the state,while Iroko has added nothing less than eight meaningful roundabouts to our roads in Ondo state and gave two of them solid decoration. Yet he cant descend to d level of commissioning them. Aregbesola also brought the whole world to Gbongan and made so much noise in the media commissioning the Olajoku Park which is nothing compared to the Akure Democracy park in terms of cost, utility, reasonableness and accessibility,yet Gov Mimiko hasnt commissioned the Democracy park (I dont even think hes planning to do so) Today,Olajoku park is reptiles-invested as it is completely useless. The commissioning of two out of the six mega Health centres by governor Mimiko in the area last week also brought to question the wide gulf of difference between Iroko and his predecessors in the health sector. The great Iroko has completed nothing less than 15 solid structures (including buildings in places like the M&C hospital Akure phase 1&2, the M&C Ondo, The hospital management board building,The Accident Trauma centre,Ondo & Owo, the Kidney centre,the Gani Fawehinmi Diagnostic,The Vacine Storage centre and the Igbotako general hospital) apart from the nothing less than 70 basic health centers in five years,yet if u ask former governor Agagus supporters to talk,they wont be able to mention one single structure Agagu started and completed in the health sector in six yrs. One thing about the great Iroko is that his works speak for him all the time while the detractors regale in lies and shenanigans. Reason also why,beside the fact that hes an outstanding candidate with great credentials, the vibrant Akinjo Kolade Victor will cruise to victory on the 5th of April.
