The concept of peace has become a household word in our conflict - TopicsExpress

The concept of peace has become a household word in our conflict endemic world. Politicians quack it on their campaign platforms whiles religious bodies sing it in their prayers and libation. This is postulated to mean that, in all facets of human life, the need for peace is whizzed by individuals and collective groups. We are all aware of the mayhem that political conflicts has caused our sister African countries, talk of Burundi, Sierra Leone, Benin, Rwanda, Uganda, Liberia, Ivory coast and the just ended Libya crisis. Let us not be the next to be talked about. I therefore entreat all Ghanaians to concord to the Supreme Court verdict that will soon be voiced out to the hearing of all. Peace is neither acquired nor achieved automatically. It is neither implanted nor supplanted. It has to be planted and nurtured by the people. In the words of Eleanor Roosevelt in a voice of America Radio Broadcast; ‘it isn’t enough to talk about peace; one must believe in it. And it isn’t enough to believe in it; one must work at it’. As society we earnestly yearn for peace. Interestingly, we tend to destroy the seeds that engender the very peace. If our desire for peace is to be of any importance, then we ought to put such desire into action. In simple parlance, peace has to be conceived and hatched through action. Fellow Ghanaians, let’s try to be the pioneers and panaceas of peace for other countries to mimic. May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you strong, enough sorrows to keep to human and enough hope to bring you joy. BY Chood
