The cosplay cost breakdown is sweeping my Tumblr feed. Id post - TopicsExpress

The cosplay cost breakdown is sweeping my Tumblr feed. Id post my own numbers, but I dont think that matters as much as the materials and how I use them. Ive always cosplayed on the cheap and save money when I can. I plan a year in advance to hit sales. Buying lighter fabrics in the winter, heavier in the summer when they are 40-80% off. Things like that. In the end, you can spend $1000 on a costume for the best materials. Thats your call, but do you really need to? To almost quote Vorpal Props (Im fudging the direct quote on this, sorry!) from his ANT panels, you can take a great prop and make it look like poop with a crappy paint job. But you can take a prop with average materials and make it look great with an awesome paint job. Its not about how much money you spend, but how you use the materials. Thank you to everyone who posted about their cosplay costs. You gave me a great idea on how to spin the Budget Cosplay panels, and I hope to submit it to the next convention Im attending. :)
