The counsel also cited instances when the Congress government was allegedly under pressure from the real-estate lobby in the city since #Kazmi had lead a movement against a case of land grabbing in #JorBagh. “I am here to fight for truth and not acquittal of the accused in the case. I knew my client even before he was accused in this case. He fought against the land grabbing of #Karbala in Jor Bagh. Congress leaders were pressured by the lobby,” the counsel said. The counsel said the charges against Kazmi — under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the NIA Act — should have a “higher supervision” of a sessions judge as there have been instances of misuse of such provisions by magisterial courts.
