The cross of Christ Jesus is a sort of great sifter by which all - TopicsExpress

The cross of Christ Jesus is a sort of great sifter by which all things must pass through. It sorts out anything of the world, the flesh , corruption, death, pride, self and anything contrary to Gods righteousness and His perfect will. Even the good news of the gospel is veiled to those who are perishing. The gospel was a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to all others! Everything is such that it will try the hearts of all! It is with the heart that man believes but that ability and propensity to truly believe through the heart exists outside of man. It is as though looks for that little flicker of light within the heart to which He makes His appeal. For the progress of any believer, the heart must become wholly, soley and holy for God. Bearing the cross towards the loss of all that is of the world and the flesh is for the foundation of ones building. Truly the flesh profits nothing but the spirit gives life. Until the heart is freed of all obstructions and made single and clear for the Lord, one cannot grow strong in spirit and will begin instead to turn to an outward practice of religion verses the inward practice of the walk in spirit. Why? Because until the heart and soul of flesh has been rendered inoperable via true sanctification, all the bible and teachings will be distorted, misinterpreted and misapplied by that flesh which has not been cut off. Too many people wish to believe that this was already entirely secured for them upon the instant of new birth without realizing that though it was in fact secured through the cross of Christ it must still yet be worked out through the arduous process of true sanctification in the daily bearing of ones personal cross in following the Lord. The light of life is truly bright within ones human spirit but the trouble is with the heart and soul which needs the practical practice of dying to self through the cross that the way will be made clear for that light to shine forth therein. Many want only to admire that light of life within the spirit without bearing the cross in daily living so as to allow for the release of that life into their heart and soul. The result is becoming merely religious with no flow of life from the spirit. Yes, the life is full and bright within the spirit but unless the seed (heart and soul) is allowed to fall into the earth and die, (through bearing the cross for sanctification in the loss of all) that life remains sealed up within and the person remains just as he was with no transformation and no real walk in spirit. The spirit must be released from the seed in order to have the experience of the walk in spirit! The woman with the alabaster vase of ointment is an amazing example of this sacrificial release of the spirit. Amazingly, this woman was one of very few who truly got it! While Judus rebuked the woman for such extreme self sacrifice none of the others dared to say otherwise showing they did not see this blessed truth either. The natural heart and soul (flesh) believes such things to be WASTE! The natural man thinks that ointment should only be released sparingly and in measure, but this woman broke the vase to release ALL! There is much to this story but the main point here is to show that the woman was willing to lose all in breaking the jar (self) for the release of all. She did not have any thought of self but only of pouring out all upon the Lord. This was the true picture of loving the Lird first and with all! Loving the Lord in such a way in losing all is true sanctification for the release of the Spirit of life via ones own spirit. And this is the proper order for the flow of that living water from the inner most spirit through the clear (sanctified) heart and soul and then the body for full release and expression.
