The current government of Dr. Jonathan Goodluck should be given a - TopicsExpress

The current government of Dr. Jonathan Goodluck should be given a second mandate because they have performed despite many challenges. Yes, they need to do more especially in the war against terrorists and some other sectors like ensuring steady power supply but counting on their achievements to date, they deserve a second term. Currently, Nigeria is the largest economy in the whole of Africa; Our GDP is growing at over 6 % annually; Many new companies like Airpeace are opening their doors for business while the existing ones are doing a lot better. Just recently, it was announced that Nigeria is now a manufacturer of cars. Cars with 70% of their content being made in Nigeria. We are not talking about assembling cars that were made elsewhere, folks. Nigerian government is not running a deficit rather we have surplus. In the war against corruption, there has been some improvement but more need to be done. According to records, Nigeria position among corrupt nations has improved. Today, Nigeria is the president of OPEC and a woman as a matter of fact. All these and more happened under this present federal government. On the job creation, I am not sure if Nigeria has any indicator that monitors unemployment rate and the number of jobs created and losses per month like they have in countries like United States but my assessment on this is as follows: With the current activities of Boko Haram in the Northern Nigeria, Job losses and unemployment rate will be very high. Many companies in that region will close down and many investors, especially foreign investors who would like to invest in Nigeria will chose not to because they fear for the safety of their investment. Governments are not known for job creation, private sectors do but it is the responsibility of the government to create a friendly environment for private sectors to create jobs. This is why I am calling on the fed. government to do more on war against terrorist. It is very unfortunate that countries like United States refused to sell arms to Nigeria for some reason best known to them but Nigerian government should and must do whatever it takes to defeat Boko Haram. Manufacture your own arms, buy from other countries like Russia who would love to sell to them with so many sanctions on them by the US and many European countries. On the election day, before you cast your vote, ask yourself this very question: When in our history did we have it all this good? What are the chances that other candidates will even come close to matching the present government record, talk less out performing them. I do not know about you but as for myself and my family, we will stand with the government of Dr Jonathan Goodluck.
