The day Muslims (and especially Pakistanis) realize that Islam is not under threat will be the first step towards reviving our golden era. I am convinced that the credit for our long-continuing state of misery goes to our self-assumed belief that we have been created to protect Islam. Indeed, even thinking so is plain absurd. Islam was, is and can never be under threat. The Creator is The Protector of his belief system. Although, on a side note, it is not incorrect to imply that Muslims are under threat. There is a world of difference between the two statements. We are not worthy enough to proclaim ourselves as the guardians of Islam, when we cannot even guard our own faith, one that first and foremost stresses upon the adoption of morality and ethics (before proceeding towards dogmas, rituals and the principles of establishing a politico-socio-economic system).
