The day itself was not just about delivering the dresses. A group - TopicsExpress

The day itself was not just about delivering the dresses. A group of us were privileged enough to spend a few hours meeting these beautiful and inspiring individuals. There were ALOT of tears, but so many smiles and lots of laughter. It was an emotional day. And one that im sure none of us will forget. I cant speak for the others but for me it was an incredible feeling to watch our children interact. The Thai children did not speak english and our children do not speak Thai, however it was unbelievable to watch the bond forming so quickly between these young humans. It reminded me that we all essentially come from the same place, and whether you believe that its god, or science, or the stars etc, kids are kids no matter where they come from, and they are all amazing! There was some incredibly generous donations to the orphanage on the day also..... My mum, Sue, purchased a new outfit for each of the 15 boys that the orphanage cares for. The reaction of the boys was somewhat similar to that of the girls, and they were very eager to get changed and parade their new garments. She also purchased wooden puzzles (for durability) and pencils and colouring books for arts and crafts time. Nadine Dunn, Trudy Ford and Kelly Ford purchased much needed groceries including staples such as rice, toilet paper, milo, washing powder etc, but also some special treats for the children like plaster mould painting and OREOS!! Never underestimate the power of an Oreo to bring a smile to a childs face :) The orphanage survives on donations and the donation of groceries is perhaps the most important as it is essential for the care and wellbeing on these precious children. Thankyou also to my sister Nadine who organised the day, could not have done it without you! My niece Molly and my friend Charlotte Ford made each child a loom band bracelet each (you can see the kids wearing them in the pictures). Quite simply the kids LOVED them. We also had the chance to give the kids lunch. My mum served up noodles with chicken, tofu and vegetables, into bowls for the children. These were received with such graciousness by these kids. The beautiful manners of these children was something my own child could learn from! After spending a few hours just being with these children it was time for us to leave. There were lots of tears, including from the children who we took with us, who I believe had begun to understand. Even though we had only been there for a short amount of time, bonds had been formed, laughter had been shared, and we had experienced something that there really is no words for and that I am incredibly grateful for.
