The day started with a breakfast comprising mainly cold smoked salmon. Sure it is farmed, but I reckon that it nails the European stuff. Then off for a short hike on the Enchanted Walk. A really pleasant walk which could even be done in a wheelchair. Next was the Pencil Pine Falls and Rainforest Walk, a little more challenging and also very pleasant. Then finally the three hour Dove Canyon Track. This was serious, really serious stuff. Just by the grace of God we survived. Some of the areas involved mountain climbing and if it rained it would be downright dangerous. It was 7 km long rated as “Hard”. Yes really tough, but with tough comes reward. This has to be one of the most beautiful areas in the world to visit. The “Lord of the Rings” scenery would be an apt description; even the “Yoda” scene in “Star wars” could have been shot here. A few magic mushrooms and even the fairies, leprechauns and elves would have come out of hiding. After our survivor man and woman experience we tucked in a late Devonshire tea (with coffee). In Tasmania it appears that they even out British the British with their teas. We have arranged for a picnic basket and Maureen and I will be heading for the Dove Lake walk. Cradle Mountain overlooks Dove Lake. Cradle Mountain is covered in snow and the area is picture perfect.
