The day weve been dreading has arrived. The planning application for the West Garty Wind Farm above Loth was submitted this week - 18 turbines, up to 120m tip height (4x the height of the Wee Mannie) and 54MW output. The documents (188 of them!) have been uploaded to the Highland Council planning site here - wam.highland.gov.uk/wam/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&keyVal=NFWH69IH0A000 Still working our way through them, but the following viewpoints are of note (scroll to end of documents for most realistic view): Viewpoint 01 - Brora Layby Viewpoint 06 - Helmsdale harbour Viewpoint 07 - Brora viewpoint Veiwpoint 13 - Ord of Caithness Viewpoint 16 - Royal Dornoch Golf Club Any comments on the application should be made to both the Highland Council (THC) (use the web address above and then go to the Make Public Comment tab and also to the Scottish Government (SG) Energy Consents Unit (scotland.gov.uk/Topics/Business-Industry/Energy/Infrastructure/Energy-Consents/Support-object). Both THC and SG will accept comments either online or by mail. Comments should concentrate on planning issues.
