The death of Jesus once and for all exposed the truth about the - TopicsExpress

The death of Jesus once and for all exposed the truth about the world. It condemned the holy one and the just. It was not just murder by some individual. It wasn’t just betrayal by Judas or envy on the part of Caiaphas. The whole system was guilty. Jesus simply did not fit. He was a challenge to Rome, a threat to the established traditions, a challenge to the Temple and institutional religion, a challenge to the authority of the priests and rulers. Here was a Man the like of which had never walked on earth before. His love overwhelmed multitudes, His wisdom was matchless, His personal life lived on a level that made the best men feel like clumsy amateurs. He carried absolute authority in his very words. There could be no way to justify killing Him. He was the prime example of innocence. But with such brilliances He could not survive. “Christ died for our sins.” He did not just overlook our sin. It meant gathering up this evil and taking it into His own bosom like a fire. Sin necessitated Calvary. It finds its dreadful finality in Him. --REINHARD BONNKE
