The death of Robin Williams is hitting me hard for several of reasons. Like so many millions, I practically grew up on the guys comedy. Also, I lost my best friend years ago to suicide. Also by asphyxiation, as it happens. And I, too, suffer from depression, and there but for the grace of God go I. I am truly blessed to have found a treatment that really works for me. In fact, I feel that I have a new lease on life. But for every success story, theres someone in a pit of despair that defies logic. I see them all the time, and it breaks my heart, because to them, pain IS logic, and happiness is nonsense. Im not really sure where Im going with this... I guess Id just ask that you keep in mind that dealing with depression is not just a matter of cheering up. Its an insidious disease that requires serious treatment and the care and patience of friends and loved ones.
