The decision in Parliament today is a good result. Badger Army campaign has stopped national roll out of cull even NFU know this is now dead and buried. The decision to increase level of Government support for badger vaccination in buffer zones is to be welcomed and will now lead to more calls for badger vaccination from farmers in hot spot areas too as they know a cull is not coming to them. The continued decision to cull in the pilot zones is a face saving measure for Paterson but has really screwed the NFU. They are now left carrying the can for 2 hugely costly and ineffective culls which are very unpopular and will not drive forward a national cull policy they were promised These will also now be subject to a legal challenge by the Badger Trust I would not be surprised to find farmers in the pilots now start to pull out from the project Let the dust settle but today has been a bad one for the NFU & Paterson. We have won a battle not the war but our badgers are a step closer to getting the protection they deserve and need as a result of todays decision We keep on fighting we are winning
