The deficit is down by more than half since President Obama took - TopicsExpress

The deficit is down by more than half since President Obama took over, and is projected to fall even further in 2015. In fact, it is falling at the fastest rate since World War II. And yet, only 6% of Americans polled believe the deficit is shrinking. Why? Because the media has consistently refused to push back against outright lies, like this one from Eric Cantor, on Fox News Sunday: [We are] keeping our eye focused on trying to deal with the ultimate problem, which is this growing deficit. (Source) Time and time again, this lie has been repeated by Republicans, and all too often, mainstream reporters have simply let it go unchallenged. This has profound implications – when the vast majority of Americans believe something that is simply incorrect, pressure builds for policies that are wrongly focused, and even dangerous. Right now, instead of pushing for policies that create jobs, we are still debating how deep to cut. Instead of investing in the future, and creating a stronger economy, we are fighting a threat that we think is far more dangerous than it actually is.
