The depravity of man is at once the most empirically verifiable - TopicsExpress

The depravity of man is at once the most empirically verifiable reality, but at the same time, the most intellectually resisted fact. — Malcolm Muggeridge For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, but no one wants to admit it. Everyone wants to say they are good and in no need of saving, despite all the evidence the world-over of the great and dire need of mankind to be saved from itself on both an individual and universal level. Christ didnt come and die on our behalf because everything was okay. It should be all the more shocking evidence that things are very much NOT okay, that man is not good and not heaven-bound apart from Gods work on the cross. Think of a Judge who MUST judge justly, for the sake of faithfulness to His own Character besides the goodness of justice itself! We all stand guilty... we know we do. We have all fallen short. And what do we have to pay that hasnt been given to us by God in the first place? How then can thing be made right? By what means can there be forgiveness from an perfectly just Judge? Simply: if He offers to take the punishment in our place. Thats what He has done upon the cross for us. This is the Good News of Christ! Mankind can be reconciled to God, found righteous because of what God has done for us, for those who believe upon Him, that accept His payment for our crimes. Whats more, He also gives us new life even here and now, to be made more and more like Christ every day. This is the hope for mankind. No other attempt at peace on earth or reconciliation with God will ever work. Ever. Because this is the way God has provided. He has done this for us. Repent, believe, be baptized. Live the life you were made for instead of spending your life rebelling against your Creator, and the rest of your eternity regretting it. How great the hope and offer we have in Christ! Please dont fail to see the great treasure that Jesus is, or youve missed it all. Look to Him and be saved... from yourself, from this broken world, the perfect Judgement to come. What an exceedingly great joy and surest hope we have been given in Jesus!
