The design for our exciting new village hall has now been - TopicsExpress

The design for our exciting new village hall has now been submitted for detailed planning permission. There have been in-depth discussions with major hall users and also public displays in the hall, the community shop and the Monk’s Retreat. In general we have received extremely favourable responses and the architects have acted on useful feedback to arrive at the final design. The pre-planning meeting with Teignbridge Planning was also extremely positive. The building will be some 357 square metres and will contain a large main hall for village events, dances, shows, celebrations and indoor sports such as short mat bowls, table tennis and badminton. There will also be a large lobby/sitting area, a large meeting/function room with kitchenette, a small third meeting room, a larger kitchen than at present, disabled facilities and baby changing. There will be lots of storage space. The hall is designed for use by other groups also whilst the pre-school and school are in session. It will be a very eco-friendly building, with a ‘green’ living roof, partly with PV panels. It will have excellent standards of insulation and the latest heat pump technology. It is designed for low-cost running and maintenance. There will be landscaped parking for over 20 cars. The National Lottery, which hopefully will provide the majority of the funding, has reacted well to the plans and we are now in contact with other large funding organisations to raise the bulk of the remaining funding.
