The development of Indian Malaysians in the business world has witnessed a drastic improvement in the last 10 to 15 year. Although the share of Indian participation in the economic activities has increased over the last 10 years, most of them are still involved in SME and micro-businesses. In order to remain competitive and remain on the mainstream of the economy ahead of Vision 2020, Indians need to leapfrog by raising their capacity and developing their businesses beyond the current scale of their operations. The number of big players in certain industries had increased in recent years, however we are still relatively small compared to other races in this country. There is an urgent need to ensure Indians businessmen understand the needs to enhance their businesses. This conference will be one avenue to encourage greater participation of academicians, researchers, economists and industrialists to chart action plans as part of a blueprint for the Indians beyond 2020.
