The displacement of 800 families in Lwandle and 300 in Alex is just a demonstration of how easily the land beneath out feet may be pulled. We are not at all attached to it with the glue of ownership. The land owns us, we belong to this soil continent wide but our mother is denied her children, so her children cannot drink her milk, we cannot plant or harvest, we cannot hide from the unforgiving cold under her wings. Today it is them, tomorrow you and I. But even for some of us, other things may be taken at any given moment. I am from extension 28, Vosloorus and I am hesitant to go home. I know that if I go home I shall be battered by the jaws of deadly cold since the electricity may be taken at any time. In fact, experience has taught me that every evening in winter power is switched off so that suburban people may stay connected. Land in Lwandle is usurped so that others may benefit. Load sheddings? Same logic!
