The display of uncivility, discourteousness, and callousness displayed this morning 6th of July 2014 by the chairman of Kuti hall popularly known as purportedly the hall of ‘great men’, popularly known as OLU WENDY makes me wonder if the end justifies the means in the attainment of greatness. It makes me wonder what the future holds for our dear Union and our dear Nigeria in a whole. The moment politics is being played with such degree of desperation, I know for sure that there is a hidden and ominous agenda behind such politicians’ intention than serving to liberate their people. Behind those hypocritical displays of loyalty, comradeship and selflessness, there is great and lustful desire to loot the People’s Treasury and wield undue power. Earlier this morning, the campaign troop of Olawunni Mustapha a.k.a HOPE’14 who is contesting for the post of President in the forthcoming Students’ Union elections was peacefully going from hall to hall campaigning for their candidate. On getting to Kuti Hall, ‘the hall of great men’, the campaign troop requested to use the public address system to address the inhabitants of Kuti hall. The troop was told to meet the Public Relations Officer. On doing as they were told, this amiable young man granted them the permission. As they were peacefully preaching their gospel of Hope to the great people of Kuti hall, this reprobate who willfully wants to tarnish the image of the great hall hurried out of the blue and swiftly snatched the megaphone violently from Mustapha a.k.a HOPE’14. I am very sure this scoundrel’s behavior would never gain the approval of the great men of Kuti hall. It is an understandable fact that Odesola Victor a.k.a HunterSola who is also contesting for the same position as Hope is from kuti hall but fair-play, justice and equity behooves this scoundrel cum Hall Chair to allow this young man to express himself, after all, what we are all yearning for is a viable and vibrant Union. I am sure Huntersola has gone to other halls including Nnamdi Azikwe hall where another candidate now alleged to be disqualified hails from and he was not met with such hostility and assault. Even if HunterSola was to win, this unsympathetic attitude shown by his supporter this morning leaves little to be desired of, and this are the crop of people that would be his advisers if elected. We would not be wrong if we conclude that Independence Hall which HOPE’14 hails from would be in great jeopardy if HUNTER wins and they would also involve other halls which he and his advisers feel were not on his side during the electioneering process. Politics should not be a do-or-die affair, and winning an election should not be achieved through callous, violent and selfish means. Political thuggery bears no good for our already emasculated Union. We leave the electorate to design the kind of Union they want for a whole year with their own brushes and paints of sagacity and wisdom. #U.Idecide
