The drawbridge over the Ortega River (actually McGirts Creek) beside the Roosevelt Boulevard bridge is a good indicator of a trains proximity, as it is usually up except when one is expected. Sunday afternoon I saw it coming down, so I parked and just barely caught the Amtrak Silver Meteor. Ive never seen it lowered so close to a train!
