The editorial in the Caymanian Compass of Thursday 27 March 2014 - TopicsExpress

The editorial in the Caymanian Compass of Thursday 27 March 2014 is one of the most irresponsible, reckless and destructive pieces of journalist contributions on social and political policy and imho that Ive read in the compass for the many years Ive read it. The Editors on-going beat the horse to death proposition that there are people in the service standing around twiddling their thumbs is only their view and in my view as far fetched as any expectation that the arab league would vote to accept the state of Israel as the home of the Jews. At the least its an affront to our stalwart Caymanian Deputy Gov. Mr. Franz Manderson his team of talented Chief Officers and all the senior Heads of Departments of the service including those of statutory authorities. Beside not being rooted in any concrete factual evidence, the editorial leapfrog their ultimate outsider prostration by attempting to connect the dots in such a way that ultimately calls out the UKs representative responsible for primarily external security Governor Helen Kilpatrick to the task. I believe such pitting of the UK against the CI in the day to day affairs and running of our goverment and civil service is reckless and twisted bravodo. The editor seeks to massage any ego the Gov may have or they perceive she carries in a bid to disrupt and destroy the livelihood of countless caymanian families. That is because as it stands the editor views our civil servants and service as: the preeminent structural defect of Caymans public sector: The overpaid, overstaffed civil service. Well Mr. editor I believe the good lady Governor has a much deeper understanding and greater depth of cognitive functionality and reasoning of her constitutional role and responsibilities than you probably wished. I am certain that she understands that good governance does not mean because she is politically detached from the Caymanian people gives her a blank cheque to do as she would like or worst as you would like. Her calling is higher than the shallowness of your proposal and you are right: our constitutional arrangements ensures this is so. Downplaying the recent thrust to sensibly reduce numbers in line with the general publics demands for public services and calling them squishy long-term strategies may only appease your ego or that of the other groups or like minded inviduals who stand in judgment of our public servants with a warped yardstick and unfounded posturings. Smh.
