The education system is in an intensive care. Teachers are not - TopicsExpress

The education system is in an intensive care. Teachers are not being paid adequate salaries-, and as a result teachers are busy looking for alternative livelihoods. Civil servants including teachers were promised hefty salaries towards the end of last year but upto now -hapana zvapo zviripo, vachiri kungotambira nzungu/shomwe. Munhu unofa ukasiya mhuri hapana chaunoisiyira. A $10 000 pension is nothing in this economy, inopera pasina mwedzi. If all things were being equal pension for a single civil servant was supposed to buy 2 houses and a car in the middle densily populated surburbs. They are living way-way below the PDL, whilst they are working. Its public knowledge that the civil servants are the middle class in any progressive nation, but in our country they are professional beggers. For a teacher to buy a used Japanise car, he/she needs about 7 years saving $100 per month. When we grew up during our days, teachers were role models, highly respected in our societies- but with the shrinking of the economy and its collapse--- things changed. Vana pavaiisirwa mbuva- whether mangayi etc- vabereki vaitoziva kuti vanoisa neportion yateacher. Teaching profession is a great profession - and many teachers do wonders, some are lifted up to managers, community leaders, national leaders etc. I call upon teachers of to join the struggle of total economic emancipation. Together we can build a better Zimbabwe-, the Zimbabwe that we all envision.
