The eighth day Firdau prayer for Ademola Fashola, the father of Governor Babatunde Fashola, was held on Tuesday in Lagos with a charge to leaders to live exemplary life. The governor’s father died on August 5 at the age of 79. A former Head of State, Muhammadu Buhari, and the Speaker of House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, were among prominent Nigerians who attended the event held at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS). Others include the governors of Ogun, Kano, Niger, Edo, Osun, Kogi, Jigawa and Oyo States. In a sermon on the occasion, the Chief Missionary Officer of Ansar-Ur-Deen Society of Nigeria, Abdulrahman Ahmad, said death was the necessary end of man. “Death is the end of every man. What is important is that leaders should live exemplary life. This will make them to be celebrated after their demise as their deeds will live after them. “It is not the number of years we spend on the earth that matters, but how well we live.’’ Mr. Ahmad urged political leaders to fulfill their promises to the people who elected them and also shun abuse of power and arrogance. Africa’s richest man and industrialist, Aliko Dangote, foremost banker, Subomi Balogun and Rasaq Okoya were also present at the Firdau prayers led by another prominent Ansar-Ur-Deen leader, Muhideen Bello. Also in attendance were chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC), including a former Ekiti State Governor, Adeniyi Adebayo, and a former Yobe Governor, Adamu Aileru. (NAN)
