The emotions in our house are running high at the moment. The excitement and tension the children are feeling in relation to tomorrow and thus the future of Scotland is infectious. Albie (5) is a clear Yes, she always has been and she asks everyday when it will be the Yes day. Raedie (11) who has a tendency to be subversive and question his own status quo was truly turned to a committed Yes on Saturday whilst soaking up the atmosphere in the Southside and City Centre. Finally Lyla (9) has gone through the biggest process of all, a delicate soul she was up all night after Guides on Tuesday - literally sick with worry, following a big debate with her school friends and finding herself to be the only person voting Yes in her group. She is nervous and concerned of a changing moment in her young life but when talking with her today she stated Children never vote on anything, why dont Children vote?. If I could vote tomorrow I would vote Yes because that would be the bravest thing I ever did. (In response to this Albie declared You can not run away from the world, no matter what its everywhere.) Whatever Albie might mean! What I know and my Children know (who identify as Scottish, live here, have grown here, will contribute to Scotlands future no matter what the outcome) tomorrow we will come together and contribute to a prolific moment in history, one that could and should change everything. I will be proudly voting Yes, I will be voting Yes for my growing family, for their friends and their futures. I will be using the privilege of my vote to help shape a future that has our Childrens interests at the heart of it. Thats what feels important to me now. Anyone undecided- come chat with my Children. Its perhaps this perspective thats most persuasive.
