The entire judicial system should be placed under a microscope, especially regarding young African American men charged and convicted of serious crimes. Forty-two years ago, when I had just turned seventeen years old, I was accused, interrogated, charged, indicted but by the grace of God, exonerated for an armed robbery and murder I knew absolutely nothing about. If I wouldve got convicted, I would be making the same kind of news Mr. Elmore is making by being released after serving forty years for a crime I knew nothing about. When these young black men are proven to be innocent after serving so many years in prison, all cases handled by the prosecutor responsible for the conviction should be very closely examined. There are so many falsely accused young black men sitting in the penitentiary for crimes they did not commit.
