The equality in sport debate continues: a race later this year (the Southern Cross Trail Run) gives R15 000 prize money to the winning mens team, and mixed team, but only R5 000 to the womens team. One argument is that there arent many elite women runners so the lack of competitiveness means they shouldnt get as big a purse as the mens and mixed teams. I dont buy it... (hey, let me put my cards on the table). Would love for some of you to weigh in on the debate.
