The exoneration of Paul Petry and Bent Meyer should have happened - TopicsExpress

The exoneration of Paul Petry and Bent Meyer should have happened a long time ago. It wasn’t until more information came into the light over the last six months did I gain greater clarity about what actually took place behind-the-scenes. All of this unfolded seven years ago while I was serving as a new pastor at Mars Hill (Our family transitioned out 4-1/2 years ago to plant a church). At the time, there was a convincing narrative created in order to sway the votes in one direction. That narrative, to a very large degree, moved me to vote as I did. As I’ve spent time talking to many involved, including some of the narrative-makers, I’ve come to see that narrative was manipulative, at best, and evil, at worst. I’ve since spoken with Paul and Bent, asked for and received forgiveness, and am grieved to have voted in such a way largely based on that narrative. But, please don’t misunderstand, this is not my attempt to shift the blame. I own my part in voting as I did as a new pastor and, therefore, signed this letter in order to help to, in some way, clear their names and the reproach this has brought on them and their families. Lord Jesus, have mercy on us all. repentantpastor/confessions/letter-confession-bent-meyer-paul-petry/
