The exterminator visited today. Said he could not do anything as the mice (not rats, he says) are inside the wall. They would have to break out to get in target range. Or the maintenance of the apartment would have to open a hole in the drywall, put down traps, seal it up again, then open it up and remove them when the mice were, uh, neutralized. However....tonight the little buggers are not making any noise and I can only hope they have moved on, though that seems too much to expect.
