The fact is that changing the migratory direction of the soul is a life-long, incremental process. We come into this lifetime in a particular shape, and our life’s work is to trans-form to the next shape on our soulular journey. This is no simple feat. No matter how hungry we are to evolve, we are still up against a collective unconscious that is vibrating at an anxious, survivalistic level. Through that lens, the quest for an authentic life seems frivolous, even threatening. And even when the world around us doesn’t impede our progress, the processes of inner change will. Although the external world changes rapidly, the inner world moves slowly, cautiously. We will naturally turn back to familiar harbours to ground and protect us after we make bold leaps. Now and then our defences will arise to protect us from the unknown, initially unable to distinguish between perilous new directions and actual homecomings. And, of course, our unresolved issues and self-doubt patterns will invariably block the trail. Real change simply takes real time.
