The fact that a gargantuan tower, bearing the name and logos of an airline, rose above Grand Central Terminal in the early 60s stands as a perfect metaphor. It perfectly symbolizes the ascendancy of air travel, and the corresponding decline of passenger rail travel, in the United States. And, given that Met Life sold the building in 2005, maybe they should take down that damn billboard. Or, even better yet, tear down the building and allow us to once again appreciate the grandeur of Grand Central Terminal. That building is uglier than sin...
