The fact that am well informed helps me get an intresting pespective. By all standards Uganda is a poor country and I may add undeveloped country...The richest man in Uganda does not even qualify among the worlds richest 1000 people in the world-according to Forbes Richest list...so i have never understood the whole point in the flashy culture thats propped up in Uganda....I mean Uganda must b the worlds number 1 destination for the most expensive weddings..gosh..it does not make any sense to me...Imagine the zeal we have to collect money at wedding meetings was the same zeal we used to gather people and invest in more meaningful things...Where would our country be? Yes weddings are a good thing and marriage is a good thing, but why do Ugandans want to hold wedding ceremonies that would literally makes the jaws of Europeans drop in envy!! Our parents were not that flashy but there marriages are in much better shape than what we see today..Again my question is, what point do we have to prove?? Weddings is just one example...One of the problems i see is the very shallow so called Ugandan dream..that many of u r well versed with...Graduate, get a good job, buy a car, Marry and may b build a house...thats it.....so many pipo that attain part or all of these above think they r rich plus successful...My verdict-Nonsense... I see many young people around me being flashy and saying they are rich....You having more money than me doesnt make you rich..it just means that you are less poorer than i am..but bottom line is u r poor...While you in Uganda think driving a car(most of the time on a loan) is rich..more and more citizenz of developed countries think its cool to ride a bicycle to work...it saves the environment, saves energy and space and money as well...so impress me..tell me u want to own a factory or a business or a school...there you will b thinking like a first class citizen....and dont just own a car, try to make one..that wud b something...until you are like Pablo Escoba who loses a million Us dollars each year to rats and cockroaches eating at his stash of cash...you are not rich, just less poorer than your neiba..
