The fact that the media chose to publish this article about a man - TopicsExpress

The fact that the media chose to publish this article about a man who painted a handgun red to resemble a toy is interesting in light of what just happened in Ohio when a 12 year old with a toy gun was shot and killed by police. The act of publishing the article is meant to imply that the police were justified in their actions by raising the question: how are police officers supposed to distinguish fake guns from real guns if real guns are painted to look fake? But my questions are: Did the Ohio police force identify painted guns as a problem and relay that message to officers? Were the specific police officers involved in the Ohio shooting aware of that some people paint real guns to resemble fake guns? It is interesting that this article was published as the Ohio case is being investigated and the disparagement against the officer who did the shooting increases. I would not be surprised if this article and or this incident with the painted gun are used as a defense to justify the officers uncertainty and there is no indictment in the Ohio case. Note that the article never mentions the Ohio incident, however it is obvious that the intent of the article is meant to persuade readers into thinking that if guns are being painted to look fake, then the police were justified in their actions because they did not know if the 12 year olds gun was fake or real. The publication of this article at this time is not a coincidence, it is intentional. The media are gatekeepers of information and media outlets are comprised of people with their own agendas. Dont be manipulated. Read articles closely for the content, the meaning for and behind their publication, and the social context of the time of their publication. Articles like this are designed to make us cast doubt on truth. The truth is: A 12 year-old boy played with a toy gun in the park. A passer-by called police and told them that the boy was playing with a gun that was probably fake. The police dispatcher never relayed the callers message about the gun being fake. The officers arrived on the scene and immediately shot the boy. Smoke and mirrors. Distractions. Subliminal messages. Media collusion and subterfuge. Stay aware when you read.
