The family of Peter Kassig (also known as Abdul-Rahman Kassig) has released a new statement tonight. Kassig, a North Central grad who grew up in Indianapolis, is being held hostage by the Islamic State and was threatened by the group on video last week. The group is believed to have executed several westerners working in the Middle East. Ed and Paula Kassig say they received a letter from their son after he had been taken captive. In it, he wrote, I am obviously pretty scared to die but the hardest part is not knowing, wondering, hoping, and wondering if I should even hope at all. I am very sad that all this has happened and for what all of you back home are going through.
