The fellow who resigned from the constitutional review - TopicsExpress

The fellow who resigned from the constitutional review board/committee is not without questions because his Awoko Newspaper interview is not completely telling the whole story. Although Mr. Jones is making the news as a patriotic Sierra Leonean I think not so fast. He claimed Government interference as his sole reason for resignation but has not said how government actually interfered with his job on the committee. Rather not surprisingly nobody is asking that pertinent question of his resignation but quick to call him a patriot, is it not unpatriotic to resign from a responsibility that your country bestowed upon for rather unprincipled reasons? A lot of my friends here on Facebook are in support of his action on principle, but heaps loads of praise on him when the whole story is yet to be told is erratic. I suspect there is a heck of a story to be told about this resignation. I read the interview in its entirety and all it says is that this man resigned because government interfered with the committee he belongs to by a long shot; how? The government of Sierra Leone sponsored a bill in parliament to enable a member of parliament, who is not a judge, to be able to vie and win the speaker of parliament position. How is this obstruction of a constitutional review committee? This tells me this guy resigned not on principle but for nothing or his ego may be. It is either that or he is least educated about the management he wrote his competition thesis on. You get my angle? Just because they have a constitutional review of the national constitution does not mean parliament cannot go ahead and do its job! Look it is the job of parliament to legislate, to make or unmake laws and Mr. Jones’ last job was to review the 1991 constitution of Sierra Leone. Just how are the two contradictory to the other? Can both be done at the same-time unrelatedly of the other and not undermining anything? I say yes! So just go read the Awoko interview again and prove me wrong but there is obviously more to this story than have been reported so far!
