The film would achieve the double century status by the third - TopicsExpress

The film would achieve the double century status by the third weekend, but it remains to be seen how much time it will take to beat the highest grosser of the year Kick. Audiences, especially Shah Rukhs fans, are waiting for Happy New Year to beat Salmans Kick record as soon as possible, but the new releases may hamper the box office collection of HNY. But trade analysts, film exhibitor and distributors are certain that the film would cross the ₹250 crore mark in India in its lifetime run and beat Kick as well as Hrithik Roshans Krrish 3. Film exhibitor and distributor Akshaye Rathi predicted that the final business of the film would be over ₹250 crore. But he also said that its unlikely that the film would beat Dhoom 3. But whether they will actually manage to break the Dhoom 3 record cannot be predicted. They dont have any competition for a week or so, Rathi told The Financial Express. Meanwhile, the film is all set to beat the first ₹200 crore grossing film 3 Idiots by its third weekend run. Happy New Year had a decent run in second week. The collections were not great during weekdays but due to Muharram and Guru Nanak Jayanti holidays across the country on Tuesday and Thursday, the collection went up. HNY had decent second week, but the main test of the movie is in its third week. This Friday, two movies are releasing Rang Rasiya and The Shaukeens, but both the films are not that popular to affect the box office collection of Happy New Year. However, if the reviews of both the films turn out to be positive and if the word of mouth too is in the favour of the two films, then its likely that the collection of HNY would drop drastically in its third week.
