The first Democratic Republican , president elected in 1800 was Thomas Jefferson, The Democratic Republican Party split in 1828, and Andrew Jackson was elected as the first Democratic President, Abraham Lincoln was the First president elected as a Republican in 1860. The proper terms for the two parties are, The Democratic Party, and The Republican Party. When people take the lead of Rush Limbaugh and Refer to The Democratic Party as The democrat party , they are simply incorrect in their usage. Efforts to demean by usage of a lesser term simply reflect fear and ignorance, we are The Democratic Party, and we stand for exactly what that grand term implies, Democracy!
