The first Ida gym was in the room where the current eighth grade English class is. The idea to build a gym was proposed to the voters in 1926, but it was defeated. The Athletic Association of Ida decided to that they would have a gym anyway. Every one tried to help in the actual building of the gym. The gym was completely wooden in structure, and was about 20-25 feet tall with a gabled roof which gave it a flat look. It was used until 1930, when the building burned down.
