The first case of Ebola virus diagnosed in the U.S. recently appeared in Dallas, Texas. Did you know that common household bleach can disinfect Ebola? Both the Centers For Disease Control (CDC) and Canada’s Public Health Agency recommend disinfecting blood or bodily fluids from Ebola patients with a 1:10 solution of household bleach and water, and a 1:100 bleach-water solution for disinfecting surfaces, bedding, protective clothing and other reusable medical gear and equipment. In all cases, let the bleach solution soak on the area to be disinfected for at least 10 minutes. phac-aspc.gc.ca/lab-bio/res/psds-ftss/ebola-eng.php cdc.gov/vhf/abroad/pdf/african-healthcare-setting-vhf.pdf
