The first delay came when the VA admitted to bureaucratic errors - TopicsExpress

The first delay came when the VA admitted to bureaucratic errors that caused the cancellation of the first round of bidding for clinic construction. After four years of looking at required square footage, VA officials realized they needed to request congressional approval for the leases. In addition, the Congressional Budget Office changed its treatment of VA leases, and the clinics were put in legislative limbo. Repeated delays in the construction of the clinics have forced thousands of Southwest Louisiana veterans to travel more than three hours to get medical care. In the meantime, Louisiana VA officials have promised a larger interim clinic in Lake Charles by November — an upgrade from the mobile clinic, which opened in May 2012. This is better than the small mobile clinic and better than nothing, but veterans deserve more.
