The first international United Nations Peacekeeping Military Observers Course is under way at the Centre for International Peace and Stability of the NUST Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies, H-12 campus. A ceremony was held on Monday at the campus to mark the beginning of the course. The course is being attended by 22 Pakistani peacekeepers (21 army officers and one naval officer) and nine overseas participants from Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Egypt, Lebanon, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Ukraine, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Welcoming course participants at the ceremony, NUST Rector Muhammad Asghar highlighted that Pakistan had over a half a century of experience in peacekeeping efforts and ranks among the top troop contributing countries of the world.
