The first talks of the negotiation partners of a “Great Coalition” between CDU, CSU and SPD in Germany on European policy mirror the search for a consensus. This is obvious regarding Germany’s responsibility in the EU, questions of subsidiarity, public services and the reaffirmation that the three parties still stand behind the European Financial Transaction Tax.
