The first this morning a, vision came to my mind as soon as I woke up, It wasnt a dream, remember I was up and awake already but still lying in my granddaughters Caties bed - Im staying at Angelas and Carls this week before driving back to California (If God wants, on Monday with Johanna DeSimone - my sister from another lifetime and a sister from another mother in this lifetime. Back to my Vision... It began like this... The first thing I saw was my grandmother Rosie Lucchese kitchen table on 21st Street and 3rd Ave in Bklyn...The first apartment I remembered them living in. But grandma wasnt there! At first the kitchen looked empty then in a flash there at the table alone was my Uncle Hugo - as handsome as ever - laughing and sitting in a chair holding three playing cards in his hands. They were red checker cards and he had two cards face down in front of him. I immediately knew he must be playing 5 card stud and that he was holding the 3 cards and asking for 2 new ones. I then looked around the table, as a Remote Viewer would - or a fly on the wall, and didnt notice anyone else sitting with him! Odd, I thought...but then just as quickly, I saw my grandfather, Sam (Salvatore) standing over the kitchen stove making a fresh pot of coffee. Odd, again I thought because neither Uncle Hugo or Grandpa Sam were big card players? Then in a matter of a second - I saw my father - Mike and his sidekick and best friend for his entire life - them being only 6 weeks apart - my Uncle Johnny teasing each other as they usually did over what card game they were going to play. My father was calling my Uncle Johnny a Horses Ass because Uncle Johnny wanted to add two WILD CARDS in the game! Odd again I thought - because Uncle Johnny was the one that always used the term - Horse Ass, not my father - lovingly though of course. Uncle Johnny would use that term if father if was being stubborn or bosses over a card game or anything else for that matter, Eh, Rene...Stop being a horse ass! But, it was always said in love and they would always laugh after it was said. I could write a book just about the stories of my father and Uncle Johnny - what characters! Sidebar - (My father and uncle Johnny were actually second cousins who married sisters - my mother Anna of course married my father and uncle Johnny married my mother sister - my beautiful Aunt Sadie.) Now were back on in the kitchen - Are you all still with me? Okay, now we have Uncle Hugo the baby of the bunch, and the first to pass over at only 62, sitting on the 21st Street kitchen table with my father, Uncle Johnny and we have Grandpa Sam - making coffee...all aforementioned passed over. Then suddenly I hear a bang at the front door and my father asks is his rough voice, Whose there? And the voice behind the door replies.. . Its NINO guys, open the door! My father teasing him answered, I dont know if you can play, let me ask my brother-in-laws! My two uncles, Hugo and Johnny and my father all start laughing that Nino is locked out of his own parents house, then Grandpa Sam feeling sorry for his son says, Eh Mikie, come on letta him in. (In his very strong Sicilian accent). My father, Uncle Johnny and Uncle Hugo are all still laughing like school kids and then they say in unison - Come in NINO, the doors is unlocked! Then my father, the tough guy that he was, especially when it came to playing cards - but who was also very close to Uncle NINO too and they also kind of worked together - my father worked as a longshoreman on the piers and my uncle Nino was a Teamster truck driver that picked up the cargo from the ships my father unloaded. When Uncle Nino walked through the door my father continued to speak and said, Nino, remember, were here to play cards so we dont want to hear any BS while were playing! Uncle Nino just smirked a half smile. Grandpa Sam, walked from the stove to the front door and let him in even though the door was unlocked (Uncle Nino decided to spell his last name differently - Luckese and was called Lucky by his friends). Uncle Nino was really good looking, and Im not saying this because hes my uncle - but he was movie-star good looking. A combination of Dean Martin - Yes, I said Dean Martin, and Caesar Romero; and it was HIS parents house that he was knocking at to get in! Okay, now we have Uncle Nino, Uncle Hugo, the two partner in crime - My father and Uncle Johnny sitting at the kitchen table with playing cards being dealt and Grandpa still back at the stove making coffee. Then suddenly theres another knock at the door! But I also catch a scent with the person behind the door...its the smell of a cigar! Immediately, I know who it is! The only one who smoked a cigar was Uncle Eddie...Gorgeous, green-eyed and white haired Uncle Eddie. I dont remember Uncle Eddie ever having anything but white or blonde hair...a gorgeous man, inside and out and always giggling and loved his family his wife and his sons and anyone who ever was a part of his life - to the moon and back. This time the door opens by itself and their stands my Uncle Eddie Dinkwcietz holding a shot of scotch in one hand and a cigar in the other and his eyes were smiling as though he was ready for some fun! My Uncle Johnny was the first to say to start speaking and then all my uncles and well as my father sitting at the kitchen table said, Hey, brother-in-law come on in! My father, ever the serious card player said, Hello, brother-in-law - sit down we can deal you in. Then my father looked at everyone else in the room and they all got up from their seats at once and shook Eddies hand without saying a word to each other. The brother-in-laws are together now in heaven, playing cards and having a great time of it too! Uncle Eddie, thank you for letting me know that youve made your transition to heaven and that you and Uncle Hugo will be keeping a close eye on my father and Uncle Johnny. You will be surely missed here on earth and God Bless you for being one of the most dedicated husbands to Aunt Rachel and the best mentor and father to your sons and grandsons. And, thank you Uncle Eddie for always being there for me and my kids too! We love you and will never forget you! Ciao, for now!
