The flame ! . Check your lamp lads, blow the glass, make sure that it`s tight, Check the flame is burning even, keep the flame alight, Is the glass secure now, are the gaskets there, Will the lamp withstand a taste of methane in the air ?. Carry it with pride now lads, deep into the mine, Bring with you the light of life, hold that light divine, Hang it where you work lads, watch it`s flame and fear, Any rise will signify a change in atmosphere. Treat the lamp with dignity, treat the flame with care, This represents a symbol of the time when men were there, Who strived beyond all measure to work in this domain, Whose lives were all dependent on the burning of a flame !.
